James OGrady
I am a social media entrepreneur, communications professional, part-time school teacher and community leader living in Nepean, Ontario. I am also a hockey goaltender, political hack and most importantly, an advocate for grassroots, participatory democracy at all levels of government. With the launch of Unpublished Ottawa, I am following my dream to become a web publisher.
Before returning to Ottawa in 2007, I worked in the private sector for 15 years in sales, marketing and communications in the IT, media and political sectors. In 2010, I ran for Ottawa City Council in Ward 9: Knoxdale-Merivale finishing second out of 10 candidates. I hold two university degrees and one graduate level diploma: Honors BA Trent U (1990); B. Ed from Windsor U (2007), as well as a graduate level Diploma in Communications from Concordia University in Montreal (1998).
In 2018, I ran for the Green Party of Ontario in the provincial election. I finished 4th with 5% support in my home riding of Nepean, Ontario. Now, with democracy under fire around the world, I am taking Unpublished Media Inc. to the next level by expanding our offerings to include a secure voting platform that informs and empowers users to participate more actively and effectively in their democracies.
