Pipelines and Environmental protection in Ontario

January 18, 2014

Letter to John Fraser, the new MPP for Ottawa South, after Dalton McGuinty's resignation.

Good evening John,

I just got your newsletter in the mail. Congratulations on your recent election as the MPP in Ottawa South.

We first met a few years back when I was supporting a cosmetic pesticide ban. Your government delivered and I thank you for that.

Jump ahead a few years and the challenge is now much bigger: Climate Change and sustainability.

You somewhat address them in your Energy East pipeline section but with words that the federal Conservatives also use and we all know how little they care.

I hope your government will indeed mean it and be guided at all times and all issues by the "highest standards for safety and environmental protection" and will not compromise on them. Our future hangs in the balance.

Lastly may I suggest that your own Newsletter also be guided by the same standards: address Climate Change in all issues and be printed in 100% recycled paper, no chlorine, vegetable inks, etc. We must walk the talk.

I'd appreciate having your personal views on the above issues.

Happy New Year to you and your family as well.
