Author's Note:

The Green Party of Canada has a faction within it which is trying very hard to get the party to adopt the BDS movement and its tactics.

This is destroy the Green Party and it must be stopped - read and sponsor my motion to refocus the party

Dear fellow Green Party of Canada members,

On December 2-4 we the members of the GPC have a choice to make – Whether to continue to have a Green Party of Canada or NOT.

It’s really that simple.

The challenges of being an effective party for the advancement of environmentally critical issues is hard enough without profoundly muddying the waters by  veering tangentially off-course in order to satisfy the agenda of a couple of members who DO NOT have the party’s mission and goals as their first and only priority.

Thus, if you vote to continue the BDS path, then the GPC will be known as the Racist party REGARDLESS of whatever members may subsequently say to the contrary.

Vote YES on my proposed resolution (link here) and the Green Party of Canada (GPC) might have a chance to survive this debacle and grow to make a positive difference on the Canadian political landscape.

Allow BDS to stand, and this party will cease to have any value or legitimacy in the eyes of the mass of the Canadian electorate.

Those are our only two choices.

My choice is to stand for the GREEN wing of the Green Party

This letter has two parts:

  1. What the Green Party’s focus SHOULD be and why we should approve my proposed resolution (link here) on the renewed RE-focusing of the Green Party and its mission,
  2. Why BDS is a hoax and we should have NOTHING whatsoever to do with it or any other supposed “social justice” cause.

What the GPC’s focus SHOULD be, and my proposed resolution for Calgary (link here)

We CANNOT simultaneously be the Green Party AND the social justice party.

It cannot be done if “effectiveness and impact” are among our goals.

(See Trout and Ries 22 Immutable Laws of Marketing: )

I believe that the GPC’s mission per our website is too broad and thus less valuable than it can AND SHOULD be. I strongly believe we must simplify our mission to be HYPER-focused on the core, and only the core, of what this party MUST be about if it is to make any positive impact on the Canadian environmental and political landscape. As Sun Tzu taught: “Mass your forces at the point of contact with the enemy”. In our case, the enemy is ignorance and/or apathy of the long term environmental impacts of humanity’s interactions with the earth’s resources.

Thus, per my resolution for Calgary (link here), I propose the GPC focus all its resources and energy on achieving the following:

  • Clean air
  • Clean water
  • Reversing and/or Slowing Climate change
  • Biodiversity
  • A More Representative Canadian Electoral System, necessarily including NO corporate control of government

And thus I propose we do two things in Calgary:

  1. Vote on my new resolution for the rebirth and refocusing of the Green Party, Appendix A, first thing in Calgary.
  2. Spend the rest of the weekend discussing all its implications and details, and how to implement it in the best interests of all Canadians.

There are two FUNDAMENTAL ELEMENTS to implementation of the above 5 parameters:

  1. The Global Environmental Networking Clearinghouse (GENC):  The world’s most comprehensive database of anything and everything to do with the implementation of the above 5 foci. It would be a database that allows for continuous inputs from verified sources all over the globe, and open research by corporations and individuals from all over the globe. It is something that will distinguish us from all political parties in Canada, and from all other green parties around the world.
  2. Job Creation: As clearly stated on the resolution itself, the most fundamental aspect of all green policies must be addressing the trade-off between jobs that could be lost with jobs that will be created. Otherwise, people will always resist certain immediate economic pain for the promise of potential economic benefits in a nebulous future time-frame. Thus, with all policies and solutions we propose we MUST be able to demonstrate to Canadians the benefits, and well-paying, long-term environmentally and economically sustainable jobs must be integral benefits to as many of our proposed policies as possible.

Of course, inherent to all aspects of the above will be an analysis of all leading-edge global technologies that can help achieve our above goals.

I further propose that in addition to being a leader in the creation of new and innovative “green” solutions to our problems, we also be a leader in the analysis of current government plans and projects in terms of how they fit the goals of our party. As an example, how many of us REALLY know what effects TPP, Fracking, the Northeast Gateway Pipeline, among others, would REALLY have on Canada, as a whole and regionally. I suspect we all know very little in comparison to how important these matters really are.

Humanity faces MONUMENTAL challenges – and by dumping BDS immediately and focussing on the 5 parameters above we will be showing Canadians, and our own members, that the GPC is serious about addressing them head-on in an intellectually rigorous, highly researched, and intellectually honest economic plan for all of Canada

My argument to yourselves is based on the fact I believe that most of the people who chose to join the green party did so out of conviction to the goals of saving the planet’s resources for future generations. I further believe that most of you understand that as such we are up against not just apathy, but the active opposition of very large and wealthy corporations (not to mention President Trump) whose ongoing profits depend on discrediting our message (Exxon, Enbridge, etc). Thus I presume that most of you understand that the ONLY way we can ever truly succeed in our mission is if we become, and are seen by all Canadians as, leaders in intellectual rigour, critical thinking, and intellectual honesty. Every resolution we pass and every action we take as a party, must be based on those three prerequisites so that we can explain all our proposals and actions in such verifiable details as to command the people’s respect.

BDS is a hoax:

  1. It’s goal is NOT a Palestinian State – it is the destruction of the single Jewish State on planet earth.
  2. Not content to end there, the REAL goal of the Palestinian factions such as Hamas and Fatah is to wipe out the very EXISTENCE of the jewish people,
  3. in actuality, BDS accomplishes the PRECISE opposite of what it purports to want to,
  4. Worst of all, the world’s fixation on the “guilt” of the Jews (for EVERYTHING, presumably) has left every other legitimate human rights cause in the world with no time, energy, money, or supporters left to help them!
  5. Dmitri and his followers’ goal is not the strengthening of the Green Party, but to use BDS as a vehicle for THEIR agenda

( I strongly urge those who actually care to REALLY understand what BDS is and WHY it is so bad for all parties, ESPECIALLY the Palestinians themselves, to slog through all 14 pages of my "Appendix B".)

It’s not enough for me to tell you that Dmitri is lying when he says BDS is about Palestinian autonomy and Palestinians and Jews living side by side in peace, I will let the Palestinian and global leadership of BDS tell you that for themselves:

“[Palestinians have a right to] resistance by any means, including armed resistance. [Jews] aren’t indigenous just because you say you are….[Jews] are not a people…the UN’s principle of the right to self-determination applies only to colonized people who want to acquire their rights. ”

“(The one state solution means) a unitary state, where,by definition, Jews will be a minority.”

“I am completely and categorically against binationalism because it assumes that there are two nations with equal moral claims to the land.”

"A Jewish state in Palestine in any shape or form cannot but contravene the basic rights of the indigenous Palestinian population and perpetuate a system of racial discrimination that ought to be opposed categorically…. most definitely we oppose a Jewish state in any part of Palestine. No Palestinian, rational Palestinian, not a sell-out Palestinian, will ever accept a Jewish state in Palestine.”

“You cannot reconcile the right of return for refugees with a two state solution….a return for refugees would end Israel’s existence as a Jewish state. A two-state solution was never moral and it’s no longer working.”

Omar Barghouti, founder of the BDS “movement”

“Ending the occupation doesn’t mean anything if it doesn’t mean upending the Jewish state itself…BDS does mean the end of the Jewish state.  "

Ahmed Moor

“The real aim of BDS is to bring down the state of Israel….That should be stated as an unambiguous goal. There should not be any equivocation on the subject. Justice and freedom for the Palestinians are incompatible with the existence of the state of Israel.”

As’ad AbuKhalil

“BDS’s stated goals (ending the Occupation, equality for non-Jews and Jews, and the right of return of the Palestinian refugees) logically imply the end of Israel as a Jewish state…I think the BDS movement will gain strength from forthrightly explaining why Israel has no right to exist.”

John Spritzler, Pro-BDS Author

“Our corporation boycotts all Israeli products and services, and encourages other institutions, companies and individuals to cease and avoid all economic, academic and cultural activity that supports the racist state of Israel until that state dissolves itself.”

Paul Larudee, Co-founder, Free Palestine Movement

“Bringing down Israel will really benefit everyone in the world and everyone in society, particularly workers,”

"We’re resisting colonialism in Palestine, and colonialism entails all of occupied Palestine, from Haifa, to Jerusalem, to Ramallah…”

"The end-all of BDS is to weaken Israel, to isolate Israel, and give the global community a role in the liberation of Palestine and support the resistance on the ground in Palestine.”

Lara Kiswani, executive director of the Arab Resource and Organizing Center, BDS activist

“We need to wipe out Israel.”

Anna Baltzer, pro-BDS activist

And for what its worth, from a Christian opponent of BDS in the book “BDS For Idiots” (

the reason the world  protests Israel and not all the Arab states like Jordan who have done so much harm to the Palestinians over the decades is simply because Israel IS the Jewish State. That is no more or no less than blatant anti-semitism.,”

- Barry Shaw :

There are also two other very recent events that SCREAM at the world what the Palestinians’ REAL intent with BDS is:

Saeb Erekat, one of their longest serving leaders, wrote an op-ed in the Nov 7 2016 Washington Post meant to prove that Israel is the obstacle to peace, but effectively does the exact opposite when he says “[M]illions of Palestinians [are] not allowed to return to live in their homeland because they are not Jewish.”

IF they are Palestinians, and IF the PLO wants to accept a two-state solution with Arab-Palestine and Israel living side by side as they claim, then their homeland is the Palestinian Arab state, not Israel. Israel isn't stopping anyone of Palestinian ancestry from moving to areas under PA control so long as they renounce any claim to “right of return” to anyplace within Israel proper. A perfectly reasonable condition IF the returnee’s goal is to live as a Palestinian in a Palestinian homeland.

When Erekat says that Israel is their homeland, he is admitting that the PLO doesn't really take the two state solution seriously, and that "Palestine" is only a stage to destroy Israel altogether. The PLO doesn't want Palestinians to move to their own state, but to Israel - to destroy it demographically.
What other proud national entity explicitly demands that its people move elsewhere?

Once again more proof that the only people standing in the way of a Palestinian homeland are the Palestinians themselves..  :

And while nothing could more honestly lay bare the Palestinians’ true intent than that letter, to see what petty people their leaders really are, and what Israel must contend with every day without the rest of the world telling them to be “nice”, was perfectly illustrated in October of 2016 when West Bank police arrested 4 Palestinians for the “crime” of having shared coffee, food, and talk of how to get to peace between their peoples, with a few jewish Israelis over the recent jewish holidays?

I challenge anyone in this party to demonstrate to all members how a “government” that defines having coffee with Jews as a “criminal act” can then be called a party that seeks peace. I challenge you!

And I further challenge any of you to tell all members of this party how aligning ourselves with THAT level of pure unmitigated hate advances the cause of a sustainable economy in Canada!!!!

And of course, with an angry, violent, hate-fuelled “movement” such as BDS, Israel is only the start

You all know the poem “First they came for the Jews and I did not speak out…”

It’s true that Jews have always felt a little like the canaries in the “global-humanity-hatreds” coal mine, so lest you think BDS’ers are only after the Jews….

BDS co-founder Omar Barghouti has issued calls to overthrow the American economic system.

“Opposing the imperial militarization and savage capitalism in this country directly benefits the peoples of the world, including the Palestinians.”

Op-ed for International Socialist Review titled “Palestine, BDS, and the battle against US imperialism,” Purdue University professor Bill Mullen, one of the BDS leaders who lobbied the American Studies Association to adopt a boycott of Israel, writes, “We can build a still-stronger BDS movement beginning in the name of Palestinian freedom and ending in a permanent blow against American empire.”

During a rally against the Iraq War in San Francisco, Berkeley Professor Hatem Bazian - one of the primary BDS leaders in the U.S. and the founder of Students for Justice in Palestine - issued a call to action that was nothing short of inciting violence against the American people, saying   “Are you angry? Well, we’ve been watching intifada in Palestine, we’ve been watching an uprising in Iraq, and the question is  what are we doing? How come we don’t have an intifada [armed struggle] in this country? …and it’s about time that we have an intifada in this country that change[s] fundamentally the political dynamics here…They’re going to say [that] some Palestinians are being too radical; well, you haven’t seen radicalism yet!”

The occupation (referring to American troops in Iraq) is a source of tremendous violence against Iraqis. I think we’ve got to support the resistance; we’ve got to say that we support attacks against the occupying forces.” Bazian went on to call for an all-out assault on America: “[W]e in this movement [should] support the resistance against American imperialism by any means necessary.”

Bazian also started a course at Berkeley (since cancelled by the administration) whose purpose was to explore how Israel might be destroyed

Students for Justice in Palestine, an organization founded by Bazian, is so virulently anti-Israel that it can shut down any speaker it disagrees with on almost any college campus and whose hatred of America is such that Bazian called for an American Intifada. He is a major supporter of the US Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel, and a one-time fundraiser for KindHearts, which the US government shut down for its alleged ties to the terrorist organization Hamas. Bazian blocked the appointment of a Jewish student to San Francisco State University’s Student Judicial Council on the grounds that the individual supported the State of Israel and was thus “a racist by definition”, whereas his support of the terrorist organization Hamas would be considered an embrace of social justice.  He also refers to the modern-day Palestinians as the descendants of the Philistines, which is genetically incorrect. The Philistines were an Aegean people related to the Ancient Greeks

See also and note that notwithstanding what he says there, he has no problem with violence against Jews because somehow they deserve it, whereas Muslems don’t, because they’re “right”.

Again, fellow GPC members, are THESE the people with whom we want ordinary Canadians to associate our party?

Think hard, for what we self-perceive as we vote in Calgary is irrelevant. What matters is what ordinary Canadians will think of us if we allow the BDS resolution to stand, and with-whom they will associate our party?

Do we sacrifice the Green Party to act on behalf of a people who have proven that they can’t take “Yes” for an answer while REALLY critical environmental matters go un-analyzed by the Party whose name indicates and only purpose SHOULD be to deal with them?!

How can associations with the above people and organizations help us advance green and environmentally sustainable policies within the Canadian political context?

Might these associations signal the death of any ability our party ever had, or ever will have, to impact effective environmental legislation in Canada???

I hope and trust that by allowing the leaders of BDS, and not Dmitris, to show who they really are and what their violent, hate-filled, racist movement is really about you will all see that associating the Green Party of Canada with BDS is nothing less than political suicide and that I have proven my case with their own words. But if I have not yet proven that BDS is merely Palestinian war against the Jews, and in fact the entire west, simply by other means, then I urge you to slog through all 14 pages of Appendix B in detail.

And as for Palestinian autonomy, anytime the Palestinian people decide they want to accept any of the numerous peace deals that their representatives have negotiated and signed with the Israelis over the decades, but NEVER effected,  they can have their own country.

And if we REALLY want to help them, we can tell them to stop being their own enemy and accept “YES” for an answer!

Put simply, as soon as the Palestinians decide they actually want a Palestine, and not to destroy Israel, they will have one.

The choice for the Green Party is simple.

Do we involve ourselves in battles that are not ours and which not only do nothing to advance our mission but actually significantly detract from it, or do we focus on and choose battles over which we could actually have an impact?

I choose impact over political suicide.

I choose FOCUS on CRTICAL ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES over getting lost in a potential never-ending list of tangential social issues

Vote YES on my motion (link here) to refocus our party, and let’s get back to making the Green Party of Canada the BEST GPC it can possibly be.
